• What is your profession? What is your title printed on your business card?

Freelance Photographer. I am also a writer, poet and performer

• What did you study and why did you choose to study that field?

Trained by a Professional photographer who became my mentor, many years ago. Study (learning) is a continual on-going process.

• What is expected of you in your job, and how do you accomplish it?

• Are you satisfied with the education that you received?

Yes, though I left school at 16 and since then I have put myself through numerous courses covering a range of topics and subjects.

• In which areas have you thought of building upon your education?

Life experience is my teacher. I am constantly increasing my knowledge through reading and practical experiences.

• In which tasks are you good at, and in which could you better yourself?

I believe I am a capable photographer and writer, although being a perfectionist I am rarely satisfied with my output lol. Always room to improve and always will be as I strive for perfection.

• Do you usually attended seminars or coursework to advance your professional work or would you consider yourself a more self-taught person?

More self taught, although I have, over the years, attended my share of Seminars and courses

• When did you realise that your work was being considered important and that it could possibly take you places?

Only of fairly recent times, due to the efforts of six remarkable women.

• Who have been the most influential people in your career?

• With which types of persons do you feel you work well with as a team?

I got along well with the majority of people that I worked with, although I struggle with the micro manager types. I am a Team player and work well in that environment.

• Which languages do you speak, and how have you learned them?

Basic Vietnamese and some German. Studied Vietnamese at the Caulfield TAFE College and studied German at the Polytechnic in London, then continued under a private tutor Graffin Von Sierstorpff, on my return to Australia

• Do you have a website or blog? How was the process in making it? Does it accomplish the purpose for which it was created?

I have a number of Websites, amongst which are my Photography, personal and web blog. No real issues in making and maintaining these sites. Their development is an on-going process and will always remain as such. They all focus on different aspects of my life, as such I believe they accomplish their purpose. My Primary Website, http://www.stuartmediaservices.com has taken awhile to hit is straps but has certainly been "Discovered" in the last 24 months or so. It is currently averaging 575 hits per day with the highest 30 day total bringing 18,750 unique visitors to the Website.

• How do you feel about speaking in front of an audience? What experience have you had in this arena?

Have no issue speaking in front of an audience. Have a Certificate 1V in Workplace Training, I have trained Retail personnel. Prison Officers and Soldiers. Have also given presentations in front of large groups.

• Do you attend cocktail parties, presentations, fairs or conventions related to your profession?

Yes, whenever I have the opportunity.

• Have you explored the social networks for professionals online? Are you member of any of them?

• How are you different from others in your professional sector?

My creativity combined with a unique and individual style sets me apart from my peers.

• How is the Internet changing the way you work?

Easier to reach a worldwide customer base

• Do you feel your hobbies serve to elevate your career?

Yes, they most certainly do.

• Do your hobbies aide in professional networking?

Yes very much so.

• Would you relenquish some of your income in exchange for more free time?

I already do so.

• What are the things you least like about your job?

At times, some of the people lol

• Besides your current profession, what other things would you have liked to have been?

With hindsight I probably would have stayed in the Military. Over the years though I have tried a variety of professions.

• What is the most important thing you have learned from experience?

Life has taught me many things. Impossible to define the singularly most important lesson. Although empathy for others would rank up there.

• When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An Australian (RAAF) Airforce pilot

• Save some exceptions, do you believe professional and personal relationships should not be mixed?

Yes, totally.

• How do you handle customer complaints?

Diplomatically whenever possible. It is in every ones best interest to resolve complaints in a fair and timely manner.

• What do you do to manage stress?

Ride my bike, sometimes at high speed, at other times more sedately lol. I find that it clears my mind and reduces my stress levels. For me it is a form of therapy

• What are the most common mistakes clients make when they judge your work?

Lack a true understanding of the Creative aspect and the time required to produce the finished work.

CREATIVITY

• Your mind is your work tool. How do you take care of it?

Exercise it daily lol. Seriously though, I do try to stimulate my mind every day. Be it by reading, writing or editing my work. A considerable amount of time though is devoted to just allowing my imagination free reign.

• Do you have a ritual like retiring to a lonely place from time to time to cleanse your mind?

Yes, I over the years I have tried various techniques, some of which I still practice such as meditation. Mostly though I find that time alone on my Bike is the best way to cleanse my mind and to become grounded again.

• What cultural sources do you draw from the most?

My Scots / Irish heritage is where I draw from the most.

• Who have your teachers been?

The College of Life has been the main influence in my life, along with a number of close and dear friends.

• When you accept a job, how much value do you place on each of the following?

1. Money,
2. creative liberty,
3. visibility, and to
4. work with the best.

Freedom to bring my Creativity to the project is essential. To work with the Best? Well that is subjective and would depend on a personal viewpoint as to whom is the best, so no not of great importance to me. Money? Again not of that great importance. Having said that I do not undervalue my work. I always set prices that are both fair and reasonable based on a realistic assessment of the amount of time and effort involved. Visibility, is of course an important factor.

• Have you ever had a job that was so stimulating that you could not get your mind off of it?

When I was doing the Rally circuit, there were a number of sequences shot that were both stimulating and to a degree highly dangerous. Due in no small part to the position I chose to set up in. A selection process extremely important, so as to obtain that elusive one in a thousand action 'shot'. A real Adrenalin rush at times.

• "To give birth to ideas." Is this only an expression, or are there really parallels between giving birth and creativity?

Others will disagree, but to me it is just an expression for I see no parallels between giving birth and creativity.

• Does spirituality contribute to your creativity?

I do believe so. For me being in touch with my spirituality allows me to see things that others do not. It is a constant source of inspiration to me and I draw deeply from the well.

• The armchair psychologist: Is creativity an act of rebellion for you?

Hmm, an interesting question. In a way I believe it to be so. In my humble opinion, to be creative one must challenge accepted beliefs and standards. I have always had a rebellious streak, always a desire to push the boundaries in both my life and my work.

• Do you work well under pressure?

I used to thrive under pressure... the greater it was the better I functioned. Since having a major breakdown in 2006 and now a sufferer of PTSD, I struggle with pressure. Which to a degree is why I have gone as a Freelance Independent. This way at least, I am the one who decides on the level of pressure along with the fact that now the final say in what assignments I will accept or reject is solely mine.

• What do you feel when, after two or three years, you see an idea of yours again?

Often when I see projects that I created and which have been in existence for a few years I am not overly impressed with them. They obviously worked at the time, but I see clearly the flaws that exist.

• You are as good as your last idea. Wouldn't you like to have a more secure type of work?

No, not really. Is it not so that in any type of work you are only ever as good as the last task that you completed? In my case I find that this stimulates me to strive even higher, for I am a perfectionist constantly seeking that elusive shot. The one that is going to be the image that will impress even me lol.

WRITING

• What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?

At a very early age, my Mother instilled in me a love for reading. First really put pen to paper after the breakdown of my first real affair of the heart. I was devastated but found that writing helped to ease the pain and the words just flowed. I did not pick up the pen again till the late eighties, when after separation from my ex wife, I wrote numerous pieces for and about my children. Wrote a few poems in the years that followed but only of fairly recent times have I started to write again. Have started on my Autobiography, which hopefully I will self publish at sometime in the future. Have also started on a Short Story {Sci-Fi}, which I am trying to have finished sometime towards the end of next year. As is fitting, my children were the first to read my words.

• What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?

I really do not have a favourite genre. I do like thrillers and mysteries, however I will pretty much read just about anything lol. • What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?

I find that I write best when sadness is in my life. There are times when the words simply do not flow and then there are those times when, for no particular reason, they just stream forth, I capture them in raw form and work from that point to turn them into something which I feel to be worthy of reading. The Autobiography is different though, that I have to research and sort back through papers, cards and notes from times gone by. Not a process I am used to, as most of my writing comes straight from the heart and is spontaneous.

• What type of reading inspires you to write?

A lot of my inspiration comes from the "Prophet' by Kahlil Gibran. If you have never read his works then you have missed out on some inspirational writing. • What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?

Usually third person, as first person is the most difficult form to write in, even though I find it difficult not to slip into it at times when writing. Thankfully my Editor pulls me up when that happens lol.

• Are you equally good at telling stories orally?

Yes Ii believe so. Have done a public performance of my poetry and the response was very favourable and positive.

• Deep down inside, who do you write for?

Strangely enough, I write for me.

• Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?

Yes, very much so. I am a suffer of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and find that internal conflicts are most certainly a creative force which I draw upon.

• Does reader feed-back help you?

Very much so, and my friends, colleagues and readers are an important part of my on-going development as a writer.

• Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?

I share rough drafts with my editor Loretta L and Dimitra S, Aral Bereux, All these ladies are exceptionally talented published writers and editors themselves.

• Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for?

I believe that I have, after many years of searching, finally found my "voice".

• What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.?

I have had to apply a form of discipline to my work on the Autobiography, aside from that I write whenever the words flow, as mentioned previously writing for me has always been a spontaneous act.

• What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate?

Music. The choice of which reflects the mood that I am in.

• Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?

I write on the computer, only print when the rough draft is ready and do all my corrections on the laptop.

• What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?

None, I draw on the people that I trust the most, namely my daughter Ajay, Loretta and Dimitra

• What are you working on now?

Asides from creating poetry using an Image and words program on my iPad the main focus is on my autobiography.

• What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone?

Trust and believe in yourself and put your writings into the public forum. A good way is to either create your own Website or use one of the Social Networks like Facebook.

PHOTOGRAPHY

• For how long have you done photography? How did you begin?

On and off for over 40 years, started with Hanimex way back in the 60's

• What has been your education as a photographer?

Trained with a Professional photographer... from there it has all been self taught

• What is your favourite type of photography?

Landscape and special effects

• What do you try to express through your photography?

My individual style.

• How do you choose your subjects?

Experience and looking for the unique and unusual aspects of the subject matter.

• Do you normally photograph with a purpose already in mind, or do you let yourself go with the flow?

In general I prefer to go with the flow, unless it requires a more staged setup.

• Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why?

Have used Canon in the past, now though my preference is for Pentax. Like the product and it suits my current requirements.

• Describe your current equipment: cameras, lenses, computers, accessories...

I use both Pentax K20D and Pentax K5 series Digital SLR's along with a 35mm Olympus which I use for Black & White Photography. I have a full range of accessories and lenses ~ 28mm Wide Angle, 50mm, 18 to 125mm, 70 to 210mm, 300mm, 500mm. Most are Aftermarket brand (Sigma). Accessories from Extension Tubes, Tripods, studio flash and slave units, 17" Toshiba Laptop, IPad Air and of course various \filters. Always adding to this assortment.

• What software and plug-ins do you use to retouch and manage your photos?

Cyberlink PowerDirector 8, Cyberlink PhotoDirector 6 Ultra, Photoscape, Gimp2, Photo Pos Pro. Far too many apps on the iPad to list them all but the primary ones are Photgene, Photopad, Sketchme, Diptic, ColourSplash, Colour Effects, Filterstorm Neu, Snapseed, Photo Wizard and Juxtaposer

• What measures do you take to protect your work against Internet piracy?

• Are technology and digital retouching reducing the gap between professionals and amateurs?

Yes, although there will always be a gap between the amateur and the professional, just as there always has been. Of course even amongst the professionals there are exists a substantial gap between those capable of producing a better than average (amateur standard) shot and those that have the ability to see deeper into the very essence of the subject they are photographing. Certainly the new editing and retouching suites available make it easier for both the amateur and the professional to produce better than average images. That fact notwithstanding, the reality is that in order to produce a top flight final image the base image has to be of a standard well above what would be acceptable as a 'good' shot. In my opinion it is this ability to produce, on a continual basis, such images that differentiates the true 'creative' photographer from both the average professional and the amateur. Some have this edge the majority do not. Those men and women that do are the true creative photographic 'artists', upon whom technology will never impact to any great extent. Primarily because they have the creative edge (flair) that enables them to produce outstanding images regardless of the equipment / editing suites that they use. To coin an old phrase, just as you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you cannot make a brilliant (great) image out of an ordinary base standard photograph, no matter what editing program you use.

• With which other photographers do you normally team up with or do sessions with?

As a Freelance operator I work alone, which suits me.

• Do you consider yourself more technical or more artistic?

I try to combine elements of both, though that being said I am by far more of the Artistic style. Too many Photographers get caught up in the Technical aspects of our craft. I would rather see a photo that is Artistic than one that is Technically perfect. In my humble opinion to focus too heavily on the Technical aspects deprives the shot of its soul.

• What have you learned about the art of framing and composition?

You either have it or you don't

• How does one develop the instinct of knowing when to press the shutter release button?

Comes down to instinct and to a degree experience.

• When should one use film, and when should one use digital?

I shoot with both when on location.

• Does photography have the recognition that it should have in contemporary art museums?

No it does not, there is still a level of elitism within the Art Galleries and Art Museums.

I have had a variety of professions over the years. Everything from Retail Sales, OH&S Representative, Correctional Officer through to my current one of a Professional Photographer

• With which technologies do you normally work?

There are all sorts of Technologies, but basically it all comes down to using a Keyboard and a mouse!!

• Do you work by yourself, or in a team? how is that team?

I prefer to work by myself. After all this is a second string activity for me.

• What is the secret to keeping customer expectations under control in interactive development?

Open and honest communication with the client, so I have an understanding of what they are seeking from the project and they have an understanding of what i can deliver. I also tend to under promise and over deliver on the finished product.

• What was your first computer, and which is your current?

Hmm, I remember that my first Computer was a Desktop version, can't remember the brand lol. My current ones are a Toshiba 17" Laptop Satellite S75-A running Windows 10 on a 64bit Operating System Intel Core i5 and a Hewlett Packard 15" Laptop also running Windows 10 on a 64bit Operating System Intel Core i5

• Online virality: isn't it the same as traditional word-of-mouth?

It is arguably the same thing - but IMHO it is much faster, with far more reach and impact.

• What were you doing in March 2000, at the height of the "dotcom bubble"?

Trying to maintain order in a Maximum Security Prison, whilst preparing for the alleged Millennium Bug meltdown.

• What would you do to terminate Internet spam once and for all?

All spam is a nuisance, however I think you are asking the impossible if you think for one minute that it can be eliminated completely from the Internet.... Best to take what precautions you can to minimize its impact and then simply give up worrying about it or as some wit once was heard to say... "Give away Viagra for free, that way nobody will need to worry about buying it in Bulk at a cheap price" lol.

• Will bandwidth one day cease to be a limitation?

My hope is that in the near future Technological advancement will eventually eliminate bandwidth limitation. The restrictions are a lot less these days as it is but  it needs to go further until it is no longer an issue.

• Your tips to make money online

Ask yourself this key question....What is your Core asset? Identify what it is.... be it "great original content" a "Niche Service or audience". Then work it backwards from there. Once you have the concept down pat, it may benefit you to consider WHO you can partner with to fully leverage the development and implementation of the concept. Most people try to build a site first then they think about monetizing it, which to my way of thinking is doing it all arse about. . Even consider developing an API, it may help.

ENTREPRENEUR

• What is the business idea that you are working on right now? How did you come up with it?

I have expanded my Website to include "Promotional" Pages / Websites for Artists and Small Businesses. All new ground for me, but it is the direction I have decided to head in. The number I am now promoting has quadrupled over the last 6 months. Currently have Seventeen Artists, Two Poets, One Musician and Three Australian Small Businesses, on my Stuart Media Website. It is a concept that has been on the backburner for the last couple of years, figured it was time to either run with it or shelve it entirely.

• Is there a website, blog or social media link where we can see more about your project and/or yourself?

• What is your professional background? What were you doing before?

Started out in Photographics... did a stint as a Professional, served my Country (Army), worked in the Film Industry for a number of years. Started my own business in the Video Industry before joining Her Majesty's Prison Service... left there with Qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessment amongst other things. Joined Bunnings Warehouse, qualified as an Occupational Health and Safety Representative and In-Store Training Officer. Nowadays I have returned to my first love, Photography. Picked up the Cameras again and trying my hand as a Freelance Photographer and Webmaster. Did some work for AussieBeachTV.com,

• How did the entrepreneurial spirit rise up in you? Were you exposed to entrepreneurship in your family or your social environment when you were a child?

Was always encouraged to think for myself and to develop my own ideas. Nothing like controlling ones own destiny... never liked working for the Man!!
Do you have partners working with you on this? How do you split the work with them?
Primarily a One man operation lol. Though at times a close friend and fellow photographer, Loretta Leslie, helps out to lessen the workload.
Entrepreneurs have a reputation as "control freaks." How do you avoid that?
That is WHY I work alone!!! I am in control of all aspects that way lol
How do you balance work with relaxation?
Difficult at times,,, but I manage to get in enough time away from photoshoots and the laptop to retain my sanity. The bike is my therapist lol

• What do you think of big corporations? Would you work for one?

I am fervent in my dislike for Big Corporations.... they do nothing more than enslave the people. Corporate greed sucks... yeah I hate them all!! Work for one again....never, never ever!!

• When you need guidance or advice, where do you find it?

Colleagues, friends, associates, the Internet, books, research.... wherever I need to look or whomever I need to ask.

• What would you call success? Where would you like your business to be five years from now?

Success like failure is only a word. What does it mean? It is accepted as being; The accomplishment of an aim or purpose. : The favourable outcome, favourable result or outcome, a positive result, a victory or triumph. In my opinion it is overrated, just like the word Failure is overrated! Success, far too often changes people and not for the better. Ego takes over and to a large extent they start to believe their own Publicity. Failure also impacts on people and can tear them down, whereas if they looked on it as a learning opportunity, then they would pick themselves up, dust down and start again. In real terms it provides a chance grow and to learn from the experience. With Success should come humility and an understanding of what bought about ones accomplishment. For me the accomplishment of one of my aims, would be to build my Artist Promotions Business to a level where, I am able to help other Artists to be recognised for the Creative Talented people that they truly are. A second level would see a favourable outcome for the Fine Art Photographic Gallery that I am opening with a friend, Loretta Leslie. The plan is to have it open on November 1 2015. It is going to be known as The Beau Dog Gallery and will be situated on Phillip Island in Victoria. Will be a busy time over the next few months as I prepare for its opening. Where would I like to be in five years from now? Making enough money to live a good lifestyle and to fund my travels. I am hoping that the Beau Dog Gallery takes off and that it becomes a virtual overnight success lol. Would not actually like it to become so busy that it becomes necessary to employ anyone, nah that is something I do not want to do. Been there, done that!! Like Marriage, I didn't enjoy the experience ;)

• What hobbies have you got?

Writing, poetry, photography,bikes, attending Music Festivals and country markets

• Which actor would you like to be?

Always been an admirer of Humphrey Bogart, so I guess he would be my choice.

• If you were sent to a deserted island, which book, CD and film would you take with you?

"The Prophet" by Kahil Gibran, AC/DC Discography, Casablanca

• How do you find the balance between working to live and living to work?

These days, very easily lol. After events which caused my PTSD and the strokes that followed I quickly came to realise the importance of changing my lifestyle to one where I now work to live.

• In moments of tension, what techniques work in calming the mind?

Taking my bike out for a High speed run, I always return more centered, focused and relaxed

• A simple pleasure that for you is quite big or important.

Riding my bike, is a fundamental part of my daily life

• What is the greatest loss you have had in your life?

Two events readily spring to mind. The loss of my "Soul Mate" ~ it was a love affair from which I have still not fully recovered ~ and the the loss of my Mother.

• How do you respond to telemarketing calls?

I don't, it is as simple as that. I find them to be invasive and react accordingly.

• Are you an ex-smoker? How did you quit?

I have never smoked. One bad habit I did not see any benefit in taking up.

• It is 5 pm on a typical Sunday: what are you doing?

Probably working on my websites lol

• Something in which you are completely incompetent.

Hmm, nothing springs to mind, though backing a Trailer up a narrow drive comes fairly close lol

• Of what are you an addict?

The internet. Running 27 websites is not only time consuming but fairly addictive as well.

• You have nine wins in a row in a game of roulette: do you continue because you are on a good run, or abandon the game because statistically, it is your turn to lose?

I am a Conservative / libertarian / Right Wing Anarchist lol. I believe every individual owns his or her own body, mind, soul, life, energy, work, creativity, and productivity, and that Governments and laws exist only to protect that. Governments should exist solely to protect our rights and freedoms, asides from that they should not be involved in exercising controls over any part of our lives. I am Anti "Big Brother" styled Governments and Laws.

• What matters more in deciding your vote: the party, the candidate, or the ideas?

The ideas that they present... though having said that I have yet to find any Politician or Political Party that delivers on their word or promises made.

• Do you think religion has a place in politics?

No, I do not. Religion and Politics make uneasy bedfellows as history as shown on so many occasions.. The State and the Church need to be kept separate.

• Are high abstention levels a serious problem for democracies?

Yes they are. Though the blame for the high abstention levels that currently exist can be laid entirely at the feet of the Politicians themselves. Most people see politicians and political parties as being out of touch with Mainstream Society and the general populace. The Silent Majority see politicians as self serving, self seeking individuals only interested in further their own self interests. Basically the equation breaks down to; Politician = Liar. They cannot be trusted to do what is in the overall best interest of the the Country they claim to serve.

• Should parties that want to eliminate democracy be allowed to participate in democratic elections?

Not if the Country wishes to remain as a Democracy!

In Australia, the answer to that is a definite yes. The boundaries between the right and the Left are well and truly blurred.

I am of the opinion that it is a deliberate policy. The amount of food that is produced overall is more than sufficient to feed the worlds population.

The bare minimum! Enough to provide for the safety of its citizens against internal and external threats, nothing more, nothing less.

No I do not think so. In order to provide balance and to keep the two Major Political Parties in check and to KEEP the Bastards "Honest" there needs to be a third party as well as strong minded Independents.

Yes they should. I have long been an advocate for my home territory of Western Australia to secede from the Commonwealth of Australia :)

Even from a Humanitarian perspective, the answer is No. It should be up to the people ~ Freedom Fighters of the said State to rise up and remove the Government with the aid (Financial and equipment but with NO Military involvement) of other countries.

I believe so. The American Government has stepped into too many areas where they would have been well advised to have stayed out of. Whilst I have a hell of a lot of respect for the U.S Military, the U.S Government certainly does not tend to learn well the lessons of History, both past and recent.

The concept in itself was brilliant but its execution terrible. As in all such regimes where an elitist group forms, you will find that power ultimately corrupts no matter the good intentions behind it. Any form of Government that has terror as its Heart and soul is bound to fail at some point in time.

To quote; Nationalism, that magnificent song that made the people rise against their oppressors, stops short, falters and dies away on the day that independence is proclaimed" It is often seen as being the enemy of democracy, nationalism has also been democracy's handmaiden, from the time of the French Revolution - with the doctrine that nations should act independently (rather than collectively) to attain their goals. It is also a love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it

Yes I do! I believe it was a cowardly attack perpetrated on innocent American Civilians by U.S Government agencies...carefully orchestrated to garner support for the Administration of George Bush and his now infamous speech calling for the Western World to engage in a "War on Terror". The amount of deaths of innocents has gone far, far beyond those killed in the 9/11 attacks. The evidence to support such a belief is quite overwhelming and easily researched. as is the involvement of the Elitists and the Illuminati.

By our Standards of Civilization perhaps yes, but in reality it does tend to come back to cultural differences and beliefs.

No. I believe that what two people choose to do in the privacy of their own home is entirely up to them. But when it comes down to Homosexual couples adopting children I do think that the same rights should apply to them as exist for Heterosexual couples. I believe that it is important for the child's emotional development that the child has the input and influence of both a female and a male parent.

Nope, take more than this crisis to bring about such major changes.

Funny you should ask, for strangely enough I can still recall my first 'crush'. Not that I am able to recall the specifics of how I felt, but I do remember her name, so guess it would be true to say that she made a lasting impression on me lol. Oh yes, her name. Jennifer Patterson and we both attended the St Kilda primary school.

• What is most important to you in a relationship?

Four main things that are important to me; Love, friendship, empathy and the sharing of the simple things in life.

• Is love a creative challenge?

Most certainly. When one is 'in love' as distinct from just loving someone, you tend to see the world and all things around you in a different light. To maintain the love does, in my humble opinion, require one to be creative on a number of levels and that is where I see the creative challenge that love brings into ones life. The end of a love affair also provides a tremendous burst of creativity in ones ability to write.

• Do you consider it necessary to share views on politics or art?

No I do not. Nice if you share the same viewpoints as your lover but not, from my perspective, of great importance if you differ, as long as there is an acceptance of the others right to their beliefs.

An age old question! The answer... we wish we knew lol

I cannot speak for the rest of the Male species, but for me... Acceptance, freedom to retain my own identity, communication, openness, a level of empathy and a willingness to work together to deal effectively with issues that appear from time to time in any relationship. Don't ask for too bloody much do I? lol

• What things would definitely stand in the way of any possibility of starting a relationship with someone?

Geographical, racial or cultural differences any and all have the potential to be stumbling blocks. To which you can also add family pressures. As much as I do not subscribe to the whole 'age' issue, that too can be an effective barrier to starting a relationship.

• Do you keep on trying, even if your feelings are not reciprocated?

If you are smart the answer is a definite NO! Sadly I am not quite that smart, having recently come out of exactly that situation. I was in love with a woman who did not have the same feelings towards me. The end result, heartache, tears and the loss of a friend and a lover. She simply just walked away without a care or concern.

• Is conflict sometimes necessary to fuel love?

Some apparently believe so... I do not.

• Should we accept being alone or seek a way out as soon as possible?

From my observations it seems that a lot of people, when one relationship ends, just rush straight into another. It is like they cannot stand being alone. Whereas I am quite happy in my own company and believe that it is healthier to accept that there are times when we will be alone and there are times when we will be with another person.

• Is it possible to only be friends with someone you are deeply in love with?

Here I will hark back to my previous relationship, she wanted me to remain in her life as a friend, I however was so deeply in love with her that there was simply no way known that I could have remained in her life as 'just' a friend. I did give it a shot (twice in fact) but the heartache was just too great. Needless to say we are no longer friends lol.

• Which kind of loyalty is more important, physical or emotional?

I place equal value on both.

In the main, yes I do.

There are many such questions, but these three first spring to mind; 1. Are you a Jealous person? 2. Do you really understand about Personal Freedom? 3. Will you always speak the Truth?

A commitment to pleasuring your partner. Communicating your needs and listening to hers, along with a desire and a willingness to try different things.

A very unhealthy reaction. Have no tolerance for jealousy.

As I mentioned before those self same issue can be stumbling blocks to a relationship being formed in the first place. But having said that, if both are truly 'in love' and committed to the forming of a relationship I do not see any of them as being insurmountable obstacles to love.

Empathy, communication, commitment, tolerance and a willingness to compromise when necessary and allowing your partner to retain their own identity. I look for a Woman who promises nothing but tries to give you everything!!

Kicked out of Catholic Primary school at the tender age of 11yrs after being caught experimenting with two young ladies in the Gym during school hours. I was made out to be the instigator... if only they knew lol!

• How many times have you found the love of your life? What about unrequited love?

I have loved many women over the years, lost count of the numbers actually lol. That said I have been "In Love" with only two women and had one unrequited love affair. There is a huge difference to loving someone and being "In Love" with someone. Of the two that fall into the later category one was, as it turned out, the unrequited love.

• What was your first job? How did your first work experience turn out?

First Job was at Hanimex Australia as a Storeman Assistant
