Authors Statement
Hi, I'm the author you see around in cyberspace using the catch phrase "happiness is bare feet." When I say this, I'm referring to one's freedom in life to create. As an author (photographer and musician), I believe it's important to have that freedom as part of your mental "spring-cleaning", if you like. My world inside my mind becomes a world for you to read, and in turn, gives me an escape; and hopefully my readers one, as well.
Writing is my passion...my oxygen. Without it, I'd perish like a faded horse left out in the wilderness. I write because I love to write, not for money. I hope this conveys across with the tales I tell.
I have only one hero in the author world, and that is the master himself, Mister Stephen King. I worship the pages he writes on; not because of his success, but for his passion in creating real characters, believable characters...believable, yet incredible worlds. I envy his imagination because I love to travel to colourful, made-up places...and let's face it, King's are vivid technicolor dreamscapes.
I guess my main "baby" is my debut, The Julianna Rae Chronicles. I live and breath this world, and when I'm tired of running with Miss Rae, I'll switch to another book, to write. Saying this, the "Chronicles' " will always be in the background. One will always turn up somewhere, inspiring me to create another Chronicle, so I can revisit the city sectors and my watcher friends...if there's such a thing...
Well, enough about me. I'm a writer - I could easily blab about a boring bio for another 60K...better I go and write another Chronicle or two...or three...four...

"...But that's what a watcher does. They keep you tied into their dark, dark world, and only if they choose to release you, are you free to go..."
Meet Julianna Rae...capable, strong, intelligent, highly trained in combat...and utterly, utterly, terrified.
When Julianna Rae escapes from camp 4.5.2 with Caden Madison, she finally feels free of her violent family history. But Madison's status as master watcher prevents her identity escaping their chance meeting.
Unaware of her predestined path as the Seer, and confident that joining the Rebellion is her choice alone, she is hidden under the watchful eye of Isis, untl her secret bond with a Militia Commader has her arrested.
Secrets are discovered, the sectors lose communication, and the outlying camps under Madison's command will be ambushed, unless Julianna can find his location in time.
Julianna's journey will change everything. Aided by the men of her past, she discovers that the answers she seeks, are often the truths that destroy. She discovers that once in the grasp of a watcher, there is no means of escape.
Join Julianna Rae in her first Chronicle, as she makes her final journey through the war torn sectors, searching for freedom from her dark past.

Even nights after finishing this book, I found myself looking forward to climbing into bed to keep reading the debut novel of Aral Beruex! For a traditional bio reader I found myself caught up in the world of JRae and The Order of the New World. I visited a range of emotions usually found in my preferred genre. A comprehensive well written first novel.

Come on board for a ride through a world in the not too distant future full of conspiracy and danger at every turn. How much physical and mental gnashing can our heroin endure and for what cause? Follow Julianna as she tries to unravel the driving forces of the New World Order.

This was a fast paced and occasionally brutal start to what seems like it could be a very interesting series. I did find myself somewhat lost for a while at the start. Bereux throws you into the thick of things and it's a complicated world with different factions and abilities that don't get a lot of explanation. Fortunately the story and characters were strong enough to keep me engaged because I ended up really enjoying the ride. :)
If you are looking for gritty new urban fantasy, The Uninvited is well worth a look. I'm looking forward to Chronicle 2!

A friend recommended this story, and I'm very glad she did. A brilliantly written story about a real character you actually care about. For the first time in a long time, I have actually gone back to the start and read it again. Aral really brings you into her world and doesn't do all the thinking for you. She doesn't spell things out, as a lot of authors do, and and doesn't lead you around by the nose. Her characters are believable and three dimensional. You actually care about whether they live or die.
In closing, I very much enjoyed this book and have no hesitation in recommending it to people.

Book Description

Julianna Rae has a secret. One she refuses to tell. It could lead to the downfall of them all.
Julianna has barely survived her first battle with the Militia Commander. Now she must follow her new mentor, Master watcher Caden Madison deeper into a world she desperately doesn’t want.
In the throes of war, hidden in the caves of Devils Canyon, Caden Madison must find a way to return his defeated Rebel camp and Julianna—his new apprentice Seer, safely to the city sectors, where they can regroup against the Militia.
A single hope of escape lies within a secret refuge, but escape has many meanings and rules are quickly broken in the seclusion of the farmhouse shelter they harbor in. Secrets are divulged, and only Isis’ communication can save their fragile camp from collapse.
However their captors are closing in. The New World Order eagerly awaits the arrival of their Seer and the Militia Commander intends on delivering her at any cost necessary.
How far will Caden Madison go to protect his apprentice?

After reading the excellent debut novel Chronicle #1 The Uninvited I could not wait for Chronicle #2 The Uprising to be released. The Uprising started from where The Uninvited left off, a fast paced action packed story fully of gritty and believable characters. Bereux's style of writing enables the reader to become fully emersed in the world of Watchers, Walkers, Nocs and most importantly J Rae herself. I am already looking forward to Chronicle #3 to see which twists and turns Bereux takes. Another brilliant release by someone who will be a worthy addition to my must read list

INSPIRATION by aralbereux
I've been sitting here in front of the computer thinking...where would be a good place to start in the world of blogging? I'm new to this, so to remotely organize my random and chaotic thoughts (I have a touch of mania running through mine), and consider the topic of my first "real" blog, the entire process became all too overwhelming. Then one person sprang into mind.
My dear, beloved, and departed Nana.
At the risk of boring you on my first true blog, my Nana, as any good grandmother, served to inspire her grandchildren without the expectation of reward other than to see them flourish into happy, well-adjusted people. It was because of her dedication that words became my friend, and from the age of six I began to write like there was no tomorrow, understanding the passion of story telling as it began to protect me from the awful world outside. Day by day, week by week, I sat in a tiny room I shared with my mother, in a pokey old house, in a street reputable for its violence...and so I hid.
Nana gave me an "out". She gave me an imagination. She gave me hope when she knew I was a desperate child. The inspiration she imparted to live my life as I dreamed was a truly amazing gift. Without this incredible woman I wouldn't be embarking on a career as an author today. It's taken some time to reach this point, but most of the issue, I think, was a fear of disappointing her.
Now, I'm the last person to say they are well-adjusted (ha, the tortured artist more like it!), I have a lot of things from the past to haunt me. But we all do. Everyone has the ghost lurking in their shadow. Mine is childhood. But with these memories I also have Nana reading her words to me, offering explanation about the outside world as she sat me on her lap, trying to explain that things will be better one day.
Now I understand...
So, if it wasn't for my Nana, Norma Marion McGrath, born in 1914, this crazy writer by the strange name of Aral Bereux, wouldn't be posting blogs about the debut of her novel, blogging about photography, or her favourite punk music. She'd be curled up somewhere in a corner, probably rocking back and forth and whispering to herself about the rabbit hole she had fallen down some time ago, without any rope to pull herself out.
Hats off to you Nana! It's in your honour that I write from the depths of my heart and imagination.
You were right, some dreams...they really do come true.
